The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse is a skilled health care provider and has successfully completed an organized program of nursing education that certifies the nurse for an advanced practice role as an APRN in pediatrics. As an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, the APRN will manage the care of pediatric patients with gastroenterology related disorders under the medical supervision of the Gastroenterology Physician in primarily an inpatient setting. This position is additionally involved in education and consultation at various levels and is responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the philosophy and policies of the UAMS Department of Pediatrics and Division of Gastroenterology. The Gastroenterology APRN also interacts closely with other peer APRNS, specialty nurses, administrative staff, support staff, and other health care workers on a continual basis.

Master’s in Nursing. Current APRN license and RN license; national certification as an APRN in Pediatrics. Current prescriptive authority certification granted by the ABSN in accordance with all state and federal laws. Excellent comprehensive communication skills_(written, verbal, active listening) Demonstrates excellent communication (written and oral), problem-solving, leadership, and collaborative skills. Strong patient advocacy and patient education skills. High level of autonomous practice skills and dominance of nurse-initiated treatment regimens within the practice setting. Ability to communicate and interpret complex written and verbal messages. Complex reasoning, judgment, problem solving and calculations required
