  • Overview

    The Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant will assist the collaborative physician with clinic patients, organizing visits and performing clinic procedures, assist in the procedural room, answer calls on daily and PRN basis for the Neurology Headache subspecialty for evaluation, treatment, and procedures for the Headache population.  The APRN/PA will be responsible for managing care of outpatients independently or with the physician, answering telephone inquiries and filling prescriptions and performing injections.   Nurse/PA must have a high level of expertise to perform assessments/diagnosis/treatment of actual/potential problems of patients.

    Responsibilities

    The APRN/PA will extend the patient care and administrative services of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences physicians. APRN will be expected provide comprehensive health assessments, determine diagnoses, implement treatment plans, prescribe medical treatments and manage health issues for patients in collaboration with the designated physicians. The APRN/PA will work autonomously as well as in collaboration with a variety of individuals to diagnose and manage patient's health care problems; and will serve as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate. The APRN/PA will also coordinate the multidisciplinary care of patients, facilitating all necessary consults, assuring that care is timely and appropriate.

    Qualifications

    Valid License as a Registered Nurse by the State of Arkansas Required and APRN License or License Eligible(Adult or Family) or Physician Assistant License or License Eligible. Prescriptive authority and DEA license must be obtained after hire. Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with a Masters in Nursing National Certification as an APRN or Masters program for Physician Assistant. Direct RN Nursing Care experience or PA experience with 2 years in a clinical environment, evidence of experience in leadership or independent practice roles, Demonstrated communication (written and oral) problem-solving, leadership and collaborative skills, strong patient advocacy and patient education skills.
