The APRN will assist the neurologists on the inpatient service and post discharge management of the patient. The APRN will see patients in consultation with the neurologist and also interact and coordinate clinical services with physicians, residents, case management and nurses from other related specialties at UAMS (e.g. emergency department, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, radiology and residents). The APRN will assist in post D/C follow up with third party facilities and patients and families to meet the quality initiatives set by UAMS and Neurosciences. Schedule includes four weekly 10 hour shifts with weekend rotation.

*Augmentation (25%) - The ARPN will extend the patient care and administrative services of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences physicians. 


*Consummate Professional (25%) - The APRN will be expected to provide comprehensive health assessments, determine diagnoses, implement treatment plans, prescribe medical treatments and manage health issues for patients in collaboration with the designated physician(s). 


*Collaborator (10%) - The APRN will work autonomously, as well as, in collaboration with a variety of individuals to diagnose and manage patients' health care problems in an Inpatient Care setting ; and will serve as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate. 


*Coordination (10%) - The APRN will also coordinate the multidisciplinary care of patients, facilitating all necessary consults, assuring that care is timely and appropriate.  Other duties may be assigned to this position.

Customer Service:  Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed. Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary. Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines. Assist internal and external stakeholders as needed with exceptional customer service.5%   The APRN will extend the patient care and administrative services of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences physicians. 


Education, general: Master’s Degree in nursing

Education, special or professional: Arkansas RN & APRN licenses, acute care specialty required

Experience, length in years and kind: 2 years experience in a Neuro setting


Experience in inpatient neuro setting preferred.


Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).
