Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant will assist the physician in palliative care clinic, organizing visits, returning phone calls. APRN/PA will also assist as needed on the inpatient palliative care consult team. APRN/PA must have a high level of expertise to perform assessments/diagnosis/treatment of actual/potential problems of patients.

The APRN/PA will do the following:

  • Perform bedside palliative care patient/family evaluation.
  • Assist with diagnosis, treatment and management of acute and chronic health conditions.
  • Order, perform and interpret controlled substances to the extent delegated and licensed.
  • Order treatments and durable medical equipment as indicated.
  • Perform other therapeutic or corrective measures as indicated, including urgent care.
  • Consult with palliative care physician or designees as needed, inform primary physician of services provided and collaborate with other physicians
  • Assist in all facets of care coordination for palliative care referrals.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate patient records, charts and documents to support sound medical practice and reimbursements for services provided.
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations with respect to Collaborative Agreements.
  • Initiate reimbursement for services rendered.
  • Provide training and continuing education for staff.
  • Assist in development of clinical practice guidelines/standards in support of quality palliative care.
  • Adhere to the practice of confidentiality regarding patients, families, staff and the organization.
  • Participate in didactics, case conferences, and other department and campus meetings as appropriate.


Valid License as a Registered Nurse by the State of Arkansas Required and APRN License (Adult or Family) Prescriptive authority and DEA license must be obtained after hire. Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with a Masters in Nursing, National Certification as an APRN. Direct RN Nursing Care experience of 5 years with 2 years in a clinical environment, evidence of experience in leadership or independent practice roles,

Or Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with a Physician Assistant Master's Degree with 1 year PA experience..


Demonstrated communication (written and oral) problem-solving, leadership and collaborative skills, strong patient advocacy and patient education skills.


Preference: Palliative care, hospice, pain management or hematology/oncology experience
