Schedule: Full Time, 7P-7A, 3 x 12 Shifts per week, with call. 1 major holiday per year, employee will float as needed to Main Preop/Main PACU/ODS/Preop, and ODS PACU
The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care to assigned patients in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. The PACU is a 22 bed unit that is open 24/7 to accommodate patients who have undergone surgical or other procedures which require general anesthesia. In addition, PACU is the unit for critical care patients. PACU provides an all RN staff with a background in critical care or emergency nursing. The RN staff are BLS, ACLS and PALS trained. PACU serves as a back-up to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital nurses when the ACH patient requires surgery or other procedures at UAMS facilities. The RN staff receives a comprehensive orientation and additional training with the changing patient population.

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers nursing care for patients within the limits of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and adheres to institutional policies, procedures and standards.The RN is responsible to adhere to the standard of care defined by UAMS, ANA, and Standards for specialty patient population with support and mentoring by other team members.

Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).
