Schedule: Full-Time 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

 

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care to assigned patients in our Psychiatric Research Institute (PRI) Northwest Arkansas Clinic in Fayetteville, AR. The RN will primarily provide support for the physicians and act as a liaison between the patient, the front office staff and the physicians.  A successful candidate will have a clinical background preferably in psychiatry or behavioral health.  Primary duties will be to triage to determine the urgency of patient care, handle all crisis calls, answer medicaiton questions in collaboration with physicians, take vital signs, review lab work and present exceptions to physicians, provide clinical assessment for initial call backs and other duties as assigned. A successful candidate will have good communicational skills, good time management and priority management skills, ability to prioritize and work with autonomy, good organizational skills, familiarlity with psychiatric medication and interactions, and clinical experience with psychiatric patients and/ or environment.

Responsibilities

Registered Nurse delivers nursing care for patients in within the limits of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and adheres to institutional policies, procedures and standards. The RN is responsible to adhere to the standard of care defined by UAMS, ANA, and Standards for specialty patient population with support and mentoring by other team members.  Collects and documents assessment data. Develops a Plan of Care (POC) per standard.  Implements POC including medical order and interdisciplinary approach.  Evaluates the progress of patient toward attainment of desired outcomes.  Provides effective patient/family education/discharge planning.  Administers medication per standard including drug information to patients/families.  Acts as a resource/supports others.  Delivers patient care using the principles of the defined nursing modality.  Delegates care based on UAMS standards, legal and regulatory requirements, specific job description and individual level of education and training.  Contributes to a positive work environment that is conducive to clinical education while serving as a resource for student nurses and staff.

 

Act as a liaison between the patient, the front office staff and the physicians.  Triage patient calls to decide urgency of patient care, handle crisis calls, answer medication questions and concerns in collaboration with the phyician and provide clinical assessment for initial patient call backs.  Ability to provide quality service and judgment on how to best to serve the client by collecting the appropriate information.

 

Review lab work and present exceptions to physicians and take vital signs. Make telephone calls in between physician appointments and maintain accurate and timely documentation.

 

Administratively will work in several UAMS PC systems and software such as scheduling, EMR, and PCT. 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with Associates Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelors in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing 
  • Valid RN License
  • Minimum of 2 years Registered Nursing experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong work ethics and accountability

Preferred: RN experience working in a Psychiatry or Behavioral Health setting.
